Since taking over the creative direction 10 years ago following Alexander McQueen’s passing, Sarah Burton has made soaring waves in the fashion industry. Bringing feminity to the brand, she fuses her own artistic vision with McQueen’s edgy style. She continues the legacy by honoring McQueen’s classic creations and that deeply reflected when she designed the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton’s wedding gown in 2011.
Last year’s Alexander McQueen Autumn/Winter Women’s Show had the theme, Made in England. Inspired by Burton’s homecoming in Northern England, she used products, traditions and the culture in the part of England where she was raised for the collection. Woolens, white-clad campaigners, the codes of punk and new wave, and tailored suits were showcased last year. Which brings us to the question: What has Sarah Burton got for us this time?
