Stream the full Gucci Cruise 2020 Fashion Show straight from Rome.
Gucci Cruise 2020 collection has just been presented at the Musei Capitolini. The collection was a fitting tribute to its venue considered as the first-ever museum in Rome. Given birth by Michelangelo himself in 1471, the museum finally opened its doors to the public in 1734. The show is held in a nearly-dimmed hall with guests holding flashlights.
“My work sometimes is like being an archaeologist. I discover things—using a torch to discover things that hide in the darkness,” Creative Director Alessandro Michele tells after the show revealing his inspiration for the show. Freedom has also played a huge part in the collection. Michele explains “It was really important to organise this show in Rome in a time when it’s important to glorify this place that is a place of freedom. All the beautiful things surrounding us from the pagan world are connected to a freedom that has sometimes been threatened. I tried to place all the characters of my movie in the best possible surroundings where they are allowed to be free.”
With this, Michele adds that “women have to be respected.” His powerful words reflect on the collection with a statement on a piece that says, “My Body. My Choice.” See the collection on the video below.
