For this special commercial film, Ben & Ben even wrote the music and theme song for this special project of the CLOY stars.
Looks like Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin are far from slowing down when surprising their Filipino fans. After they have successfully crash-landed on our hearts, the power couple surprised us at the start of this year that they were finally dating off-screen.
And just when we thought they cannot make our K-hearts flutter more, we were wrong. As a huge Valentine’s Day treat, the lovely “RiRi” couple teamed up for Smart’s commercial—the first time they find themselves sharing the screen once more after Crash Landing On You (CLOY).
Now, upon looking closely at the timeline of Smart’s commercial campaigns featuring the two stars, this latest installment serves as a climax to a trilogy. The latest TVC wrapped up an online clamor that started last June when Smart crash-landed into fans’ hearts through Hyun Bin’s “Simple. Smart Ako” TVC, followed by another much-talked-about Smart Signature TVC featuring Son Ye Jin last August.
These TVCs fueled anticipation for a joint commercial among fans, who made their wish loud and clear with the #InSmartWeTrust. And today, the telecommunications company more than delivered for their K-Drama subscribers. According to Smart’s SVP and Head of Consumer Wireless Business Jane Basas: “We heard your clamor, and we read all your #InSmartWeTrust posts so we knew this was inevitable. We had to make this happen. You are all part of this sweet journey, and we owe this to you.”
The TVC sees the two searching for each other in a crowded city. Their pairing in this commercial evokes a sense of doing the impossible. Moreover, Ben & Ben’s original song “Inevitable” in the background was purposely written for this project.
So, the pièce de résistance of this project is really how we’re seeing Filipino talents such as Ben & Ben collaborating with global stars such as Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin. And in all honesty, we’d really love to see more of this in the near future.
