Looks like there’s a new local swimwear to refresh our summer wardrobe. Expanding beyond premium linen ensembles, Áraw The Line collaborates with Kimi Juan to launch the perfect sustainable swimwear collection.
Kimi Juan is a multi-hyphenate in her own right. She has already established herself beyond her blog, Escape Journal. We’ve seen her blossom to an exquisitely talented travel photographer, and even witness her advocating a Zero Waste Lifestyle.
Perhaps that’s why it’s only fitting that she collaborated with the homegrown brand to create her first-ever swim line. Not only is the label known for promoting sustainable fashion, but she has actually long been working with Áraw.
So having made an appearance as early as the label’s first editorials, the shutterbug has finally debuted “Áraw Swim.” In the creation of the collection, Kimi took a tête-à-tête approach with Áraw founder Carla. Since both women share an unbridled longing for a balance of old and new, they made sure to fuse the two sensibilities for the collection.
Timeless silhouettes were very evident in the collection. There are the balconette-bra bikinis and wide-strapped one-pieces. Both were calibrated and finished with high-cut bottoms which impeccably reflect the everyday scenes in tropical living.
After all, the location was filled with the rustic charm of old Filipino interiors. It was complete with batibot chair sets amongst bogambiliyas that was thoughtfully positioned under pitched nipa roofs. Hence, it amazingly gave the perfect setting to welcome Áraw Swim—mirroring the vibrant colors and tones present in the collection.
