While the speeches have been made, the awards handed out, and moments turned immortal in memories, we now focus our gaze to the red carpet standouts that put a little extra effort to heightening their beauty game, proving to be undeniable head-turners during the 77th Golden Globes.

There was definitely a lot to be expected from the stars that graced the glittering gathering that opened the year with a galaxy-like bang, so to speak. A jaw-dropping opening monologue, statement-charged speeches, and a lauding of many deserving cinematic and television standouts aside, what stood out at the 77th Golden Globes was an assemblage of twisted, atypical, and out-of-the-box beauty looks that certainly had the work cut out for the respective glam teams of the celebrities in attendance. Complementing their show-stopping ensembles, celebrities confidently channeled a striking balance of elegance and creative interpretations of hair and makeup looks.

These weren’t your standard, run-of-the-mill dewy, glowed up, beauty standards. While there was no shortage of glamorous curls, a saturation of peach and coral hues, and nude manicures, a lot of daring stars went for the jugular with metallic smears, over-the-top buns, and bright, bold lips. Did your favorite go for it? Well, read on and find out.

Jennifer Lopez

While she was buffed and bronzed, glistening and gleaming as per her usual, Jenny From The Block went all out in her dramatic Valentino gown with an over-the-top bow. To keep things in the spirit of excess, her hairstylist, Chris Appleton took the braided bun to the next level. For the neat and sleek do, Jennifer Lopez signed off on the colossal braided bun that was in itself a hair moment if we ever saw one.

Winnie Harlow

Charging the Pantone color of the year with a shock of electric energy, Winnie Harlow proved that the classic can still stand out. Paired with her navy blue fringed dress, a sultry smokey eye with lined lower lashes in complementing blue tones made for a seamless transition that in no way sat in the back burner. Instead, it stood out for all the right reasons. Oh, and the matching jewelry definitely upped the glam game for her, too.

Lucy Boynton

The Politician star didn’t come to play. Taking us to space age heights with her silver ensemble, Lucy Boynton exuded an otherworldly beauty with euphoric silver eye makeup, which was made even more dazzling with black and white crystals, a blunt bob, and glittery hair clip.

Cho Yeo-Jeong

Looking exquisite with her effortless beauty look, Cho Yeo-Jeong sported the ever popular K-Beauty glass skin look at the 2020 Golden Globes. Apart from the lifted lashes, straight subtle brows, and glossy lips, it was all about the pore-less and glowing skin for the radiant Parasite star.

Beanie Feldstein

It was the combined brilliance of her fresh-looking makeup, floral blue earrings, and navy blue twist headband from Baublebar that completed the Booksmart star’s beauty look. And it doesn’t stop there, because an extra attention was focused on her peepers, adding a perfectly winged liner and lifted lashes for more drama and definition.

Ansel Elgort

Year after year, we have seen a slow erosion of unshaken archaic masculine stereotypes with more men looking beyond the box of expectations. At the 77th Golden Globes, there was no exception as Ansel Elgort proved he can have a hand at the glam department as he upped the typical grooming with a careful swipe of glittery silver shadows in the corner of his lids, which not only opened up his eyes even more, but it also matched the butterfly embellishment pinned to his blue velvet suit.

Cynthia Erivo

Simple yet sophisticated, Cynthia Erivo’s chrome pixie ‘do was a standout at this year’s Golden Globes. The Broadway stars kept everything else relatively pared down, which was complicit to the custom Thom Browne dress she wore, as well as the multi-million dollar accessories dripping from her face.

Rooney Mara

We couldn’t avoid the force of the Skywalker reference drawn by Rooney Mara with her Princess Leia hair do. Made more contemporary rather than space age dystopic, her crystal-embellished space buns also evoked an air of Black Swan with its placement, which was definitely the laurel on her crowning glory and evocative fashion statement.

Gugu Mbatha Raw

In a very timeless beauty look, Gugu Mbatha Raw elegantly matched her shimmering shadows with a Giorgio Armani Rouge D’Armani Matte Lipstick in the shade of 401. Gugu finished the look with a faux curly bob—another perennial choice.

Zoey Deutch

A veritable dose of cheer on the red carpet with her sunshine-hued Fendi number, Zoey Deutch looked extra refined as she brought back the lifted sleek hairstyle with flipped-out ends from the 60s era. Now that Zoey flaunted it herself, it looks like this will be a staple for the rest of the awards season ahead.
