On July 8, 1952, the British North Greenland Expedition left Deptford, England for their two-year scientific mission to study ice sheets in Greenland. Members of the expedition were equipped with Tudor’s brand new Oyster Prince model, the first watch that was automatic and waterproof. Both features were a must in order to conduct in-depth glaciological and seismic surveys at several sites. But it was this very expedition that conserved the concept of the expedition watch.

And as they mark the 70th anniversary of the British North Greenland Expedition, Tudor presents the Ranger tool watch donned with a Manufacture Caliber MT5402, a 39-millimeter case and a clasp with rapid adjustment system. It only seems fitting that it was the very spirit of the adventurous pioneers in the arctic exploration that the Ranger watch celebrates.

The aesthetics standards of the Ranger watch were established over the course of history and was echoed throughout the new model. With its state of the art watchmaking technology and historic elements, it continues the tradition of the expedition watch withholds up to this day. The tradition of a tool watch that is robust and practical. The perfect instrument for those who are spirited, adventurous, and bold.

The new Ranger model is reminiscent of its functional heritage. With its satin-brushed 39 millimeter case to create an overall matte finish and the dial made with details of history as the hour markers are painted with luminescent material. A modern yet historical rendition but the watch symbolizes the purest spirit of a tool watch.

As it represents the adventurous spirit and the history of the watch, style doesn’t venture too far in the new line. With their partnership with Julien Faure company in the St-Étienne region of France, it is through their traditional methods that guarantees the Jacquard looms manufacturing quality and comfort on the wrist unique. And since fabric straps are the hallmarks of Tudor, their selection of straps for the new Ranger model comes in three different designs.

Jacquard Strap

Mostly adorned in an olive-green color, the bracelet is then meticulously designed with two red stripes and one beige stripe that reminds of a vintage yet fresh style. One of a kind and eye-catching in the most modest way.

Steel Strap

Similar to the finish of the dial, the satin-brushed steel bracelet is equipped with the Tudor “T-fit” clasp for a quick length adjustment. The practical system of the steel bracelet allows the wearers to have a comfortable fit. A striking yet classic finish for those who desire a sophisticated piece in their ensemble.

Hybrid Bracelet

The hybrid strap is a combination of natural rubber and fabric-like leather. The black piece is then finished with a beige topstitching and a folding clasp. The timeless strap design is definitely a piece to add to your watch collection.
