If you’re a big R&B enthusiast or just generally into Korean music, you may have heard of Dean. The South Korean singer, songwriter, and producer with a smooth, sultry voice and a killer sense of style. After his ascent to the Western music scene with collaborations with the likes of Syd, Eric Bellinger, and Anderson Paak, now he’s taking over the fashion scene with a collaboration with Japanese clothing brand, Urban Research.
Dean—real name, Kwon Hyuk—has always been quite the style enthusiast with peculiar streetwear sensibilities—sporting labels like A Cold Wall, Gosha Rubchinskiy, and Raf Simons in his casual ensembles among other characteristic brands. With such a distinctive sartorial taste, it was only a matter of time before he came out with a clothing range. A few hours ago, the singer released the campaign photos for Dean x Urban Research, shot by Keisuke Kitamura in a film-esque sequence called “Tokyo Trip” that’s absolutely up Dean’s street.
The partnership is in line with the Japanese brand’s 20th anniversary themed “Reborn”, showcasing an expression of creativity through young artists and an overall coalescence of contemporary and time-honored art. Along with Dean, 6 other artists ranging from models, stylists, artists, and illustrators are joining in with their own creative contributions.
As of now, only one product has been unveiled—a black leather vest with suspenders and flap pockets, mixed in with a bit of denim at the ends.
While no details have been disseminated, we’re patiently waiting to see what the full range is going to look like. But judging from the campaign photos, we’re possibly getting some cool outerwear and hats to accessorize—2 key pieces that Dean definitely loves to incorporate into his regular looks.
And after his stint with Burberry at London Fashion Week, we’re sure to only get the freshest threads from this Korean heartthrob.
