During one of her 18th birthday interviews, Andrea Brillantes, shared that she has never bought herself a designer bag. She has saved up her earnings since the age of 8 when she came out in Goin’ Bulilit. The young actress shared that she would rather make sure her family is well provided for before making any luxury purchases.
In her guest appearance in Dr. Vicky Belo’s vlog, she explains how her philosophy on money has prevented her from becoming materialistic. When asked what was her favorite Christmas present this year, she said it was the necklace she was wearing from her mother. Little did Andrea know, Dr. Vicki Belo had a special gift that could rival all the others.
After Dr. Vicki Belo opened a pile of her own gifts from Hermes, Chanel, Fendi, Tiffany & Co., and Zaha Hadid, she surprised Andrea Brillantes with a gift from Dior. Inside the instantly recognizable white Dior box was a pale blue Mini Lady Dior bag. The bag features a removable chain strap, lambskin leather with Cannage stitching, pale gold-finish metal hardware, and the signature ‘D.I.O.R.’ bag charms.
The Lady Dior bag was named after the late Princess of Wales, Diana Spencer. The iconic bag made it’s first appearance on the arm of the princess during her visit to Paris. The bag gained tremendous momentum during the 90s because of Princess Diana’s fondness of it. Fittingly enough, the bag was officially named Lady Dior in honor of the Princess of Wales. Since then, it has become one of Dior’s signature pieces in their wide array of luxury bags.
After a bit of research, we found out that the exact Mini Lady Dior bag that was gifted to Andrea costs around $4,900. If converted to Philippine pesos, that would roughly be around PHP 251,782. That’s even more expensive than Dior’s newer designs. For example, Maria Garzi Chiuri’s Dior Book Tote costs around $2,900 (approximately PHP 139,656.75), which is PHP 112,126 cheaper than the Mini Lady Dior.
In retrospect, it would make sense why the Mini Lady Dior would cost a hefty price. It’s a great investment piece with a timeless design that has stood the test of time.
