Dakota Fanning reveals how Clé de Peau Beauté helps her feel empowered to post authentic selfies online.

We all know Dakota Fanning as the fresh-faced and well-spoken child star that appeared in Hollywood’s biggest 2000s films. From acting opposite of Tom Cruise in War Of The Worlds to making us cry our hearts out in I Am Sam with Sean Penn, Fanning has been in the spotlight since the age of five. Having spent that much time in movie sets also means she was introduced to makeup early on, but at 27 years old today, she’s glowing more than ever.
Fanning alongside rising stars Diana Silvers and Ella Balinska are the new Global Brand Ambassador for Clé de Peau Beauté. A full-circle moment for the actress, her first encounter with the brand was when she was just six years old, when her makeup artist would always have their concealer.
Fanning loves a good beauty makeover from wearing 1890s corset-gowns in The Alienist to going grunge-punk in The Runways which was her favorite. “I loved transforming into Cherie Curie. The 70s style, hair, and makeup were incredible in that film,” Fanning shares via our email interview.
But off-camera, she’s fond of doing a light makeup look that enhances her natural features and as a certified skincare lover, she would also often post bare-faced selfies online. “I post those photos because I feel most beautiful when my look is natural. I think social media has done a lot of great things for beauty and sharing beauty tips, but it has also created a space for people to present inauthentic images of themselves, which in turn create criticism and false expectations. It’s important for people to remember that not everything they see on social media is real.”
With that said, Dakota Fanning’s reveals her essentials. For skincare, it’s the Clé de Peau Beaute UV Protect Protect Cream and Softening Cleansing Foam, while for makeup, the Lipstick Matte in Splendorous 114 and Legend of Rouge 103 are her go-to. When asked about what’s the beauty tip that she religiously follows, Fanning answers, “the one consistent thing I’m told is not to touch my eyebrows.”
