On June 12, we come together with these goals: to inspire ourselves with the stories of courageous, successful Filipinos and to take concrete steps towards a better Philippines.
To celebrate Independence Day, MEGA has come up with the annual #NewPH campaign where we urge people to make a stand on issues that are near and dear to our hearts. We’ve asked Filipinos to celebrate Filipino talent, fight for equality, to rise against the pandemic. This year, we are taking it a step further by urging ourselves to move beyond a statement. This year, we are asking the Filipino to do something very specific: register to vote.
The global pandemic and community quarantines have shown us where we are lacking in our societies. No country was spared—we all the had to come to terms with problems ranging from healthcare to fake news. In the Philippines, we found the issues to be dire, to say the least, and help desperately lacking. In order to rise up against these problems, Filipinos have banded together under the spirit of bayanihan coming together as a community to help one another, help ourselves. But our resilience can only take us so far. We need leaders and a public service system that works, that listens, that does what needs to be done. This goes beyond party and political lines: we need leaders who will do their jobs and have a vision of a better Philippines for ALL Filipinos. This is why we are urging people to exercise their right to to vote. And the first step is ensure they can do so.
MEGA is doing all of this by doing what it does best, which is to tell stories, whether through words or through visuals. Through our #NewPH list, we show you the Filipinos who have made a difference in the lives of their fellow Filipinos. Through our social media campaign, we are pushing people to make a stand—through beautiful, meaningful visuals—alongside their idols: from leaders to celebrities and artists. We hope that by to doing all these we can help produce a spark that will lead to a fire of change renewal. We hope that we can inspire a collective coming together and create a community that links all of us, all Filipinos, together.
