The New Year Edit: All the Things to Consider For Your Beauty Resolutions

By

A new year marks a new start, and as we identify our resolutions for what is yet to come, allow this guide to help you adopt a more mindful and positive approach to beauty

It’s the time of the year to embrace the optimism brought by the notion of creating resolutions. The concept of “new year, new me” is straightforward. Under different terms, many of us create a long list of promises and commitments to fully reinvent ourselves—it’s tradition. However, it has been quite synonymous with unattainable goals in pressure to achieve perfection. Let’s change that. As we relish a calendar full of opportunities, it’s only right to realign our resolutions to something that makes us feel good inside and out.

Beauty resolutions peacefully coexist with yearly goals. Apart from navigating our own beauty directions, it also helps identify the why behind our choices. The premise of creating these resolutions is to slowly adopt a mindful approach to beauty that prioritizes improvement rather than perfection. It is focused on health, happiness, and self-expression. Beauty is often mistaken as a form of little luxury, but creating resolutions can retranslate it as a form of self-care. To say at least, these resolutions are grounded in what brings joy in beauty.

Reflect on your beauty relationship

There is no other best way to start creating your resolution than looking back to how your beauty relationship was in the preceding year. Significantly, reflections are one compound to self-improvement. Take your time and review all the beauty choices that made you feel good about yourself or even the decisions that you regret. Write down the moments that made you feel the most beautiful. The purpose of this activity is to identify your next step and the habit you want to build around it.

The process might sound intimidating, but identifying your beauty priorities solidifies your ability to make the right decisions. It’s quite similar to goal listing. However, it also brings light to the system you want to adopt to achieve it. Grab a paper or an app and try to list down three of your beauty priorities this year that feel true to you. Let’s say that skin health is a part of it, and analyze ways on how you can commit to it. A good example can be establishing a skincare routine or scheduling an appointment with your trusted dermatologist.

Revive the fun

While we are guided by our beauty resolutions, it’s just as important to revive the fun. As mentioned previously, a new day marks a new beauty obsession. It’s an invitation for any fan to be as experimental or expressive with your choices. And who knows? Maybe you’ll even find a routine, technique, or formulas that will work for you along the way.
