The Craze on the Couture Hoodie

The Craze on the Couture Hoodie

By

From Hollywood’s new it-girl Jenna Ortega to K-pop star Rose from BLACKPINK, we tracked down celebrity and runway moments of the couture hoodie

You’ve probably seen this specific design a couple times as you scroll through your feed. Several stars wore it on the red carpet, fashion houses displayed them on the runway, and we can’t deny the soft edge and chic vibe it gives off.

It made quite the noise yesterday as Jenna Ortega arrived at the YSL AW23 Menswear show in Paris donned in a haute hooded gown. Her take on the trend was sleek and sultry as the front bodice was draped across, the skirt fell on her figure elegantly, and the back was done with a plunging finish.

Meanwhile, Rose from BLACKPINK wore the stylish shroud when she went to LACMA’s Art+Film event last year. Though it’s also a YSL piece, she opted for a revealing number with cutouts by her side and waist.

As for runway moments, Versace actually had their hooded dresses displayed for their FW18 collection where vibrant plaids and prints made their way down the runway. The collection included various designs of the hooded dress.

Another Versace shroud moment happened last year in their SS23 show when Donatella went anti-summer for the collection. The show opened with Gigi Hadid wearing the hooded dress that featured a cutout by the waist and a  plunging side neckline.

A recent show that also played around with the trend was Alaia’s WS23 collection. The hooded detail was done in top to bottom embellished pieces, puffed up silhouettes, to draped mini dresses.

Since we’ve been seeing them on celebrities and on the runway, it’ll only take some time until we see them hit racks and on the streets.
