Looks like the Vikings will be conquering Sofitel Manila once more as they bring the biggest crayfish party in Asia.
Dating back to the 16th century during the reign of Swedish King Erik XIV, the tradition of enjoying crayfish became popular in Scandinavia. Although a plague in 1907 nearly wiped out the species. Thus, a law has prohibited the fishing of crayfish except during the crayfish season: couple months starting August.
So this coming September, Sofitel partners with NordCham Philippines and Philippines Norway Business Council to bring the biggest crayfish party in Manila. So if you’re a fan of Nordic history, especially the Vikings, then you can finally relive the past.
As you take part in a grand Nordic feast set in a Viking-themed coastal village, you can indulge in a bountiful serving of crayfish. And if that’s not enough, you can also enjoy other Nordic cuisines. There’s a home-made gravadlax with honey dill mustard sauce, cod and salmon fillets, and sailor’s stew.
In addition, you can also savor the classic Swedish meatballs with gravy or lingonberry jam, or the herring and potatoes. And of course, any Nordic party won’t be complete without generous batches of sausages and sauerkraut.
Then make the most of the festivities by pairing the hearty specialties with free-flowing San Miguel beer. And while you’re at it, keep partying out to an ABBA musical tribute by the Silk Band. DJ Yuki will also continue the celebratory momentum with her playlist of the newest chart-topping tunes to turn up the night.
But more than the exciting party per se, this extravagant party is actually held for the benefit of the Chosen Children Village. It’s a foundation dedicated to providing a home environment and care facility for physically and mentally-challenged children. Over the last four years, the event has raised 1.4 million pesos to help the said foundation.
