It’s undeniable that the world is focused on the most anticipated awarding ceremony of the year. But who can blame them? The night welcomed new and historic top honors in the film industry. Prestigious celebrities and honorable guests delivered a saga of hair and makeup looks that exhibited different interpretations of modern glam.

Filipino actress Dolly de Leon proved that nothing is as timeless as classic rouge lipstick. Meanwhile, celebrities like Florence Pugh, Rihanna, Halle Bailey, and Ashley Graham showcased a creative play on hair. It was also a big night for Michelle Yeoh, Angela Bassett, and Jessica Chastain who etched the return of side hair partings on the main stage.

Florence Pugh

Florence Pugh is one beauty muse to watch out for. Decoding Peter Lux’s work, the celebrity hairstylist created quite an optical illusion with a structured ponytail with tips that are set as a micro-fringe. On the other end of the spectrum, celebrity makeup artist Alex Babsky rendered a modern take on a smokey eye. His secret? Valentino Beauty’s Eye2Cheek Blush and Eye Color in 11. In a post, the celebrity makeup artist revealed that he used a brown palette to work against the softness of the actress’ gown.

Rihanna

Rihanna reclaimed her title as the mother of fashionable maternity style with her take on a semi-sheer Alaïa ensemble. Of course, it’s a given that her beauty look was courtesy of Fenty Beauty. The standout detail? Her lips. In a post, the beauty brand revealed that the artist swiped on the Fenty Icon The Fill Semi-Matte Lipstick in Grill Mast’r to achieve a rich, deep, red-copper hue. Elsewhere, Rihanna completed her look with a 90s-inspired spiky hair updo.

Dolly de Leon

Dolly de Leon’s beauty direction can’t be left unmentioned as she made a serious case for a classic red lip and radiant skin. Celebrity makeup artist Kelly Goldsack kept Dolly’s base makeup minimal with the right amount of bronze and blush that translated to her elegance. Meanwhile, a rich rouge shade punctuated her entire overall look. It was the perfect shade that complements the red detailings and accessories in her ensemble from Philosophy.

Ashley Graham

Ashley Graham showcased a fun and playful take on an awards show hairstyle. And as luck would have it, celebrity hairstylist Mashal Afzalzada shared how to achieve the star’s twisted sculptured hair. The artist began by prepping the hair with her trusted smooth styling spray formula before proceeding to blow dry it. Next, she applied hairspray section by section and slicked the hair back into different sectioned ponytails. “Take twisted hair and pin it into a chignon shape,” she wrote. “Finish off by applying smooth styling serum and control spray for a sleek snatched look.”

Halle Bailey

Halle Bailey embodied the true definition of siren beauty in the awarding ceremony. Here, celebrity makeup artist Christiana Cassell paired her hydrated and glossed-like complexion with a soft glam makeup format. But of course, her hair deserves equal recognition, too. Celebrity hairstylist Tinisha Meeks created a modern twist on an updo that added the right statement to her visage.

Fan Bingbing

Academy Awards Fan Bingbing

Fan Bingbing effortlessly captured the attention of the world with her breathtaking interpretation of a regal beauty look. To say the least, it seamlessly encapsulated the Old-Hollywood glam spirit. Her eyes were dressed with a blend of brown eyeshadows and classic winged eyeliner, while her lips were coated with a bright red lipstick. Meanwhile, her hairstylist added a flapper-era appeal to the look with sculpted hair waves.

Michelle Yeoh

Academy Awards Michelle Yeoh

Michelle Yeoh’s look was all about skin-focused beauty. More of it, celebrity makeup artist Sabrina Bedrani focused on creating a head-turning glowing complexion for the Oscar-winning actress. Her skin was complemented by hints of color, while her eyebrows and eyelashes were kept defined. In the realm of hairstyles, her dramatic side partings received a subtle update with bejeweled accessories.
