We saw the revival of rockstars, ’80s power suits, and statement menswear pieces on the 2021 Met Gala red carpet. It goes to show that the Met is back and better than ever after the one-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Attendees of this year’s Met did not hold back and gave American Fashion a run for its money. Actors, artists, and industry mavens decided to take inspiration from great American icons for their red carpet looks. Take actor and fashion darlingTimothée Chalamet, incorporated classic American pieces such as Converse, sweatpants, and a go-getter personality. Then there’s Shawn Mendes paying homage to the country boys of fashion by sporting a leather jacket and pointed cowboy boots. Whichever way you look at American fashion, you can definitely find a part of it in this year’s Met.

Timothée Chalamet
Actor Timothée Chalamet is this year’s Met Gala co-chair alongside Billie Eilish, Amanda Gorman, and Naomi Osaka. He wore a double breasted jacket with black lapels by Haider Ackermann, pairing them with white sweatpants and Converse sneakers.

Tom Ford
Designer and Met Gala 2021 Honorary Chair, Tom Ford, arrived at the event in a classic tuxedo. He wore his own brand’s Atticus cocktail jacket with evening trousers and a pique plastron tuxedo shirt. He finished off the look with a classic satin bow tie and cummerbund with diamond and black onyx studs and a cufflink set.

Rapper, A$AP Rocky, was in attendance in this year’s Met with Rihanna. They wore similar duvet inspired looks from different designers. Rihanna wore Balenciaga, while Rocky wore a colorful quilt and a suit by Prada. The couple definitely turned heads with their matching looks.

Justin Bieber
Singer and songwriter, Justin Bieber, attended the Met Gala in a suit from his own brand, Drew. The suit featured a cropped single breasted coat with wide leg trousers to match. He came hand in hand with wife, Hailey Bieber, who wore a complementing black ensemble.

Shawn Mendes
Singer and songwriter, Shawn Mendes, attended his first Met Gala with girlfriend, Camila Cabello. Both artists took inspiration from the music industry for their custom Michael Kors looks. Shawn opted to channel the inner country boy in him, while Camila took inspiration from iconic pop singer Cher.
