Take a Look at Pia Wurtzbach’s NYC Marathon Journey

By

With support from her fiance and fans, 2015 Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach finishes the 42-kilometer New York City marathon in 6 hours and 29 minutes.

Pia Wurtzbach is among the 50,000 finishers in this year’s New York City Marathon—the biggest in the world. The 42-kilometer marathon stretches throughout NYC’s five boroughs, starting from Staten Island and ending in Manhattan.

Never far behind is fiance Jeremy Jauncey who supported the former Miss Universe from the sidelines and documented the beginning and end of her run. He even joined her for the last few miles of the marathon to rain her with more words of encouragement.

Before running the marathon, Pia also posted her thanks to coach Gabb Rosario who trained her for nearly 9 months in preparation. She also shared a snapshot on her IG Stories showing the writing on her arm containing their “game plan for race day.”

This is what her coach had to say:

Pia’s fans also came to support her during the marathon itself, which helped motivate her even further. “I was dying at this point.. Thank you for the push,” the caption of her Instagram Story stated.

However, the road to joining the NYC marathon was far from easy. Just last October, Pia shared that she was worried about not being able to do the marathon anymore because of COVID and missed training days.

But the former Miss Universe titleholder proves yet again that she has the determination and grit to make her dreams into reality.

She wrote, “For years, I was looking for something that would get me excited as much as Miss Universe did. I kept looking & trying new things but couldn’t find that feeling again…until now.”
