Styling Hacks From Fashion Week That We're Totally Obsessed With

By

Runway spectacles have been in full fledge and we’re only getting more and more sartorial inspiration as 2018 progresses – bringing us extravagant ensembles and revamped basics for the season. From slouchy takes on workwear to the takeover of tropical, vacation-inspired assemblages, it’s all about recreation this Spring and trying out new styles. After all, we’re still starting off quite fresh 4 months into the new year.
Taking pages from the catwalk, we rundown 5 of the best styling hacks we’ve gathered from fashion week for Spring/Summer 2018.

SLOUCHY SUITING

While checks are still very much on trend, we need to extend our ideas on what smart suiting really is. And despite the trend having a corporate idea, it’s more relaxed this time around. Heritage prints aren’t the limit but take into consideration colors and silhouettes as well. Take a double breasted blazer and matching co-ord trousers and tie a belt in a complementary hue to your suit of choice. For more adventurous dressers out there, try a neon hue for a dayglow shocker.

EMBELLISHED HOSIERY

Destroy the idea that socks should be boring when it could actually be a highlight or accent to your outfit. Preen by Thornton Bregazzi sent models down the runway wearing beaded knee high socks paired with flats. If you’re someone who prefers to wear flats at the office or if you’re on an errands run, decorated hosiery can be a great way to add character to your look.

DOUBLE UP

Tod’s SS18

Tod’s Spring/Spring 2018 show might have one of our most favorite styling tricks of the season. The British brand took open collar button ups and layered them over zip-up tops which really took the classic, casual aesthetic up a notch. Accessorize your layered ensemble with a tie-up choker and a medium-sized metal belt for some decoration.

GO HANDS-FREE

Just when you thought they’re over, belt bags are still very much a relevant trend. Not only is its hands-free comfort convenient but it’s also a statement accessory for the entire look. Go for bright hues or patterns that match your outfit. You could even opt to go with clashing prints for something bolder.

LIVEN UP A PLAIN MAXI

For all the girls about to go on vacation trips, look no further than the catwalk to get your dose of tropical OOTD inspiration. Take out your plain maxi dresses and wear a printed or boldly-hued wrap maxi skirt to liven it up just like how Gabriela Hearst did it at New York Fashion Week.
