From the runways to our closets, Simone Rocha’s creations are more accessible as she gets to release a collaborative line with H&M.
Just when you thought the fast-fashion giant is slowing down due to the unprecedented pandemic, H&M is back with a whole new collaborative collection. Continuing its long tradition of acclaimed designer collaborations, the Swedish company has tapped London-based fashion designer Simone Rocha, who apparently is the first-ever Irish designer to undertake such collaboration with H&M.
Rocha is Famed for her signature sense of subversive femininity. In fact, because of her tomboy-feminine collections that have gained much traction ever since dominating the international fashion scene in 2018, it has now become a staple during London Fashion Week.
Now, much like her quirky, wearable, ultra-feminine clothes, her collection in partnership with the retail giant will still celebrate her personal inter-ethnic heritage and the myriad inspirations which have defined the growth of her label—from the traditions and crafts of Hong Kong to the greats of art history.
“I am so thrilled to be working with H&M on this very special collection. It truly is a celebration of the signatures of my brand, and the influences that have shaped me,” Rocha says. “As a designer, and as a customer, I’ve been such a fan of the H&M collaboration concept. Margiela, Alber Elbaz, Comme des Garcons–it’s such an amazing list of alumni to be a part of.”
The Simone Rocha x H&M collection considers the many silhouettes, fabrications, embellishments shapes, and influences that have defined the Irish designer’s world. In conceptualizing this collection, Rocha spent time reflecting on her brand’s archive, combing her past collections, and carefully reworking favorites into dynamic new propositions that feel right for today.
Hence, upon a glimpse of the collection, you’ll see glimmers of Tudor courtiers, of wild florals, of portraits and photographs, of dolls and playthings. There are also tartan, beading, florals, pinks, reds, and bespoke fabrications that are specially developed in house.
In the long run, the London-based brand is acclaimed for the strength of its vision—and a consistency that runs throughout each new garment, allowing wearers of the brand to mix and match pieces across seasons—this exclusive collaboration between H&M and Simone Rocha is our invitation into her world, extended to all.
