The former fashion director of Valentino, Sabato de Sarno, has been appointed as Gucci’s newest creative director

As the curtains lift on a new chapter in Gucci’s illustrious history, the iconic luxury fashion house is ready to take the world by storm with the appointment of its highly anticipated new creative director, Sabato de Sarno. A true veteran in the world of fashion, De Sarno takes the lead in defining the house’s creative vision for the future.

Italian native Sabato de Sarno built his formative years in Naples, Italy. He has spent his whole fashion career working behind the scenes for luxury brands. De Sarno started his career with Prada in 2005, moved to Dolce & Gabbana, and then did a stellar job reinventing Valentino for 13 years. From there, he worked his way up through the ranks and became the fashion director who helped steer Valentino into the trendy yet luxurious fashion path. With this, the House of Gucci executives is confident that this contemporary vision will be an exciting next chapter for Gucci’s unique legacy.

President and CEO of Gucci, Marco Bizzarri, said he is delighted to have appointed Valentino’s former fashion director as he is well-immersed in several fashion houses. Meanwhile, Bizzari sees the new leadership as a continuation of Gucci’s unique vision and a way to build on the fashion house’s strong reputation and long history.

While it is too soon to say what De Sarno’s collections might look like, the fashion world is excited about what’s to come under De Sarno’s leadership. Sabato de Sarno on honoring the heritage and distinctive vision of the Gucci DNA

De Sarno will present his debut runway collection at Milan Women’s Fashion Week in September 2023. He, like Michele, will be in charge of the brand’s leather goods, accessories, and lifestyle collections for both men and women.
