With an aim to bridge the gap between the local Filipino scene and the retail industry, well-known retail giant Rustan’s had its first ever Rustan’s Circle, an exhibit that featured designs by promising Filipino designers who are on top of their game. These designers created a collection solely for the racks of Rustan’s Makati. Designers included are Mark Bumgarner, Mich Araullo, Rosanna Ocampo, Happy Andrada, and Patty Ang.
Mark Bumgarner created a collection inspired by New York in the 1960s. “I have recently discovered the TV series Mad Men, and I loved how the women from that era were dressed up in simple yet elegant silhouettes, with dramatic patterns or prints making the pieces stand out,” says Mark.
Her designs stand out for merging fashion with function. Her collection comprises of laid back summer pieces that’s fun and easy but still very chic and pretty. “Think tie-print sundresses, crisp linen button-downs, 50’s-style cinched-waist styles and woven fabrics with bow details”
Creator of fine, glamourous and feminine silhouettes that align with her signature contemporary aesthetic, Rosanna Ocampo’s work is inspired by nature. Flowers and wildlife are incorporated with a variety of colors, prints, and sophisticated embroidery.
Happy Andrada’s designs are made fit for women on-the-go. It features an assortment of creative cuts and textures inspired by a kaleidoscope. Her use of different materials gives an edgy yet sophisticated vibe to her looks.
Patty Ang’s collection was inspired by her travels. She immerses herself with the culture, trends and lifestyle of the places she goes which she then channels to her very chic collection of clean lines and feminine silhouettes.
Collections from these talented designers are available exclusively at the Ladies’ floor in Rustan’s Makati only until September 30, 2018.
