What better way to celebrate 25 years than with a grand spectacle championing Philippine fashion. MEGA Fashion Week S/S ‘18 made the vision come to life. It was indeed a momentous week to remember. Style vanguards, media elites and industry giants gathered to witness the Spring/Summer 2018 collections of Rajo Laurel, John Herrera, Puey Quiñones, Francis Libiran and Mark Bumgarner.
We captured the most glamorous looks that graced the runway last week. Let’s relive the fashion spectacle:
Day 1: Rajo Laurel
In his When I Was Five Collection, Rajo Laurel relives good old childhood memories with vibrantly colored ensembles, a mix of beaded and embroidered details, as well as playful fabrics that lighten the mood.
Day 2: John Herrera
Designer milestones are meant to be celebrated. John Herrera shares his success with MEGA through the Armada Collection. Notable pieces incorporate a historical world map that first plotted the Philippines as Las Islas Filipinas. The said map was reproduced and printed on fabric. All in all, the collection brought the spirit of Filipino pride through the designer and his clothes.
Day 3: Puey Quiñones
His first show after a few years, Puey Quiñones returns with a splendid collection reminding us how we have come to adore his breadth of work. The models wore pieces that showed a spectrum from timeless classics to bold statements.
Day 4: Francis Libiran
A fashionable escapade unfolded in the Somerset Collection. Francis Libiran draws inspiration from women who travel across the globe. With the designer’s signature architectural influences in sight, the stunning pieces take form in dreamy pastels and jeweled tones.
Day 5: Mark Bumgarner
Fanciful textiles, delicate ruffles and elaborate dressing reigned at the Mark Bumgarner show. The designer lives up to his status as purveyor of glamor with celebrity-approved ball gowns worth the spotlight.
