Royal Exit: The Final Looks Of Meghan Markle As Duchess Of Sussex

By

As Meghan Markle makes her royal exit, we pay homage to her fashion victories as she bids farewell with a sartorial bang.

When Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced in early January, that they will be stepping down as senior members of the royal family, the whole world was in shock. Since the news broke out, there erupted countless bewildered reactions, asking if it’s even possible and what the real reason behind it is.

Now, while there were a lot of conspiracy theories circulating the tabloid-crazed nation, their official statement debunked many myths, stating that for all things considered, they want to focus on their growing family while still pursuing a global charity, and most importantly, attain financial independence.

But since they won’t be sharing limelight like before, they sure know how to make the best of it, proving that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s stardom is undeniable. So, as today officially marks the last day of the sophisticated couple as full-fledged royals before completely bowing out, we’ve gathered the most memorable looks of the Duchess of Sussex since their announcement, establishing that she will forever complement the regal stature of the prince wherever they may be in the world.

The Blue-tiful Comeback

While the rainy weather could make anyone blue, the royal couple seems unbothered by it. When Meghan Markle and Prince Harry returned to the United Kingdom, their first stop was The Endeavour Fund Awards.

The Duchess of Sussex opted to wear a bright turquoise Victoria Beckham midi dress that easily matched the blue suit of the Duke of Sussex. Since her hue was vibrant enough to catch everyone’s attention, she then kept her jewelry at a minimum toting an indigo Stella McCartney clutch bag that matched her navy suede pumps.

The Fiery Statement

If you thought that the turquoise dress was striking enough, wait until you see her fiery statement. As part of the choice of the couple to step down as senior members, Prince Harry also needed to sacrifice all of his honorary military appointments as a Captain-General of the Royal Marines.

So, during the Mountbatten Music Festival held at the Royal Albert Hall, that was the Duke of Sussex’s last official day in office wearing his uniform publicly. Meghan Markle, on the other hand, made sure to equally stand out, matching her husband’s military decorations in a vivid red demi-couture Safiyaa cape gown, which palace insiders deemed as an “incredibly respectful gesture.”

The Bountiful Finale

Last, but definitely not the least, their final royal engagement as senior members. Now, seeking freedom from the eternal bondage of being a royal is not for the faint-hearted. Naturally, huge sacrifices and bold choices will be made, which hopefully in return comes a bountiful reward.

Their last official engagement as senior royals was to attend the Commonwealth Day service at London’s Westminster Abbey alongside Her Majesty The Queen and other members of the royal family. And we’re so glad to see the most royal look of the Duchess of Sussex in a long time.

She donned a ravishing emerald Emilia Wickstead asymmetrical cape dress complemented by a William Chambers fascinator. To complete her look, she carried an emerald Gabriela Hearst Demi bag and wore beige Aquazurra pumps. But the most lovely aspect of her look? It was how her dress matched—once again, for one last time—Prince Harry’s emerald jacket lining.
