If you’ve ever struggled with styling your curly hair, you’re not alone! But imagine styling the hair of someone as stunning international music sensation Raveena. In a recent chat with MEGAStyle, Arthur Tolentino, Raveena’s hairstylist in the Philippines, recently shared his secret to doing her hair, and we’re here to spill the tea!

According to Arthur, doing glam with Raveena was a surreal and awesome experience. “To be honest, I didn’t know how big she was in the international music scene until I did some research when I was asked by Jia and her manager Andrea to do her hair—and I was shocked,” he admitted. Despite being a hairstylist for many different celebrities, Arthur was still a little nervous when he did Raveena’s hair for the first time. “It was nerve-wracking, but I was thrilled at the same time since it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” shared Arthur.
Arthur revealed that it was a breeze working with Raveena, who was excited about the two looks they created for her. The first was soft glam waves for her interview with Wanderlust, and the second was beach waves-type high ponytail for her performance. “She wanted something different from her performance in India, so we did a high ponytail,” he explained. “We [wanted] to make sure as well that even if the hair whips back and forth, [it] has to stay out of the way while she dances. The total look matched the luxe illusion dress of Australian designer Denise M. Vera. She was humming and doing some voice calisthenics, which made the atmosphere so relaxing. It [was] mind-blowing, to say the least.”
How does Arthur style Raveena’s curly hair?
He reveals that styling curly hair can be unpredictable and difficult to control, but he has a few tricks up his sleeve. “After blow-drying from damp hair, iron it first until it smoothens, and you can do the soft waves easier afterward,” he advised. “It’s easier to style if you do it that way. Also, make sure to not forget to prep the hair by using smoothing serums or mousse for it to hold, and a texturizing or flex hold spray for styling and for finishing.”
Styling hair for a concert can be tricky, but Arthur ensured that Raveena’s hair would last long while still looking effortlessly styled. “It was a fun experience and one that I will treasure forever,” he said.
