Aptly entitled Homage, Randy Ortiz’s 30th-anniversary runway collection paid tribute to the gamut of his design career thus far. His runway show was carefully thought out to not only show the story of how Randy Ortiz makes clothes then and now, highlighting how he improved over the years as a designer, but also his appreciation to everyone who has helped him in his career.
From breezy florals to the most delicate pastels, careful ornamentations to jolts of jewel tones, Randy Ortiz made sure to include his favorite techniques that he’s come to be known for. Delicate embroideries on suit ensembles as well as print and pattern play were juxtaposed with powerfully feminine silhouettes and masterful tailoring. But what makes the pieces truly evocative of his core design philosophy is the unparalleled restraint—letting the understated elegance inherent in all his pieces speak volumes.
