Phoebe Philo Is Launching Her Eponymous Label In A Major Fashion Comeback

By

British fashion designer Phoebe Philo is making her fashion comeback with an eponymous label. Here’s what we know so far.

British fashion designer Phoebe Philo is finally back in fashion. Known for her work as creative director for luxury fashion houses Chloé from 2001 to 2006 and Céline from 2008 to 2017, the designer is making her comeback with her eponymous label—almost 4 years after her exit from Céline.

While her newest label is backed by her former employer LVMH, the conglomerate will only have a minority stake—giving Philo the control to work how she pleases, and having her at the helm. “Being in my studio and making once again has been both exciting and incredibly fulfilling,” Phoebe Philo shares in an announcement. “I am very much looking forward to being back in touch with my audience and people everywhere.”

A designer that has made a lasting impact in fashion, her return—with her own label, no less—is a much awaited announcement which has excited the whole fashion community. After all, she has turned luxury fashion houses Chloé and Céline into “It” labels during her tenure.

Currently, there is little to no information shared regarding her eponymous label. Will it be womenswear? Maybe menswear? Accessories? No one knows, but more information is promised to be shared in January 2022. They did share that the products will be of “exceptional quality”—and we expected nothing less from Phoebe Philo.

In the meantime, here are some of our Céline faves:

Painterly Print

Introduced in Céline’s SS14 collection, the new print brought color and fun to the runway.

Comfortable Plaid

This number was introduced in Céline’s Fall 2013 collection. This collection focused on comfort, and featured textures, with the use of felt in most pieces.

Silk Pajama Top

This silky number was first seen during the Spring/Summer 2011 show. And while it was a crowd favorite, it wasn’t until Kanye West wore it for Coachella that it became an iconic piece.

Monochrome

Firstly seen in the Spring 2017 show, this monochrome dress is easily one of our favorites from Phoebe Philo. It features an oversized silhouette and pleated skirt at the bottom, a perfect combination of style and comfort.

Céline Fur Shoes

Before fur-lined shoes and sandals became mainstream, Phoebe Philo already introduced her own version in 2013. While they first surprised fashion fans during the SS13 show, it quickly became one of Philo’s most iconic designs.

Céline Nano Bag

When you think of Céline, this is probably the first bag that comes to mind. Firstly introduced in 2010, it quickly became a favorite among celebrities and fashionistas alike.

Céline Luggage Bag

A larger version of the Nano bag, the Luggage bag also quickly became a favorite in the fashion community. With its iconic structure and beautiful colorways, this piece has become iconic to Céline.

Céline Chain Link ID Choker

This choker necklace is probably one of Phoebe Philo’s most iconic accessories launched under Céline. It features a curved ID in the middle and a lock closure at the back. An iconic piece, even Kim Kardashian and Rihanna was seen wearing one.
