Patty Ang’s Iridescent Elation collection is all about lifting the spirits of the local fashion industry

One can easily spot a Patty Ang piece in a crowd. Clean lines and minimalist design with added feminine flare, Patty Ang’s designs have been celebrated by the country’s elite wearing them in full glory at every important event.
Studying at the prestigious Central Saint Martins in London, it came to no surprise that Ang was sure of her aesthetic from the get-go. Her love for simplicity was evident at the very beginning of her career as she focused mainly on black and white pieces with subtle details that made simplicity evolve into timeless beauties. In 2017, MEGA celebrated her designs as one of the #NEWPh awardees for Filipino fashion design. Her minimalist aesthetic was a welcome addition to the lavishly designed pieces of her counterparts in the industry as it brought out a new set of style impresarios who valued modern yet timeless styles.
Fast forward to 2021, after dressing up multiple international stars, opening stores and e-commerce websites, as well as a much needed pause because of the pandemic, Patty Ang is ready to go full throttle once again with a new collection that is still true to her minimalist aesthetic but topping it off with joyous colors and details that won’t fail to make you smile.
MEGA: What is your inspiration for this latest collection?
PATTY ANG: The iridescent Elation collection, was meant to make people happy. Its been more than a year in quarantine and its been quite gray and quiet especially in the fashion industry. That’s why this collection is all about the best and most joyous parts of dressing up. Still with our clean aesthetic, I decided to make the collection in bright colors this time to uplift the mood of the women who wear it.
M: How has your aesthetic grown through the years?
PA: I think it’s still the same in the sense that the foundations of the Patty Ang brand of minimalism is still very much present. We still revolve around the ideas of fun, clean and minimal with an added dash of extra-feminine details of course.
M: What is next for Patty Ang?
I think it’s time to party! Haha! Kidding aside though, Its time for us take off where we had paused. So much plans and dreams for the brand, not just locally but internationally as well. We’ll push the brand again, once this pandemic is over.
