Exclusive: Michael Leyva Holds First Fashion Show In Manila Since The Pandemic

Last Saturday, fashion designer Michael Leyva held the first ever physical fashion show in Manila since the pandemic. Held in Hilton Manila, we sat front row—armed with our face masks and face shields—to see the designer’s new bridal collection.

Here’s everything that happened during Michael Leyva’s fashion show:

30-Piece Collection

As his first show (and the first in the city!) since the pandemic, Michael Leyva knew this collection had to be different—and indeed it was. His new bridal collection not only consists of 30 stunning pieces, he also included some debutante gowns that were eye-catching in shades of red and purple. The wedding gowns were every bit ethereal, intricately detailed, and beautifully embellished—so all brides-to-be will surely find their dream wedding dress. With his new bridal collection, Michael Leyva truly lives up to the title of his show, “Enchanted.”

Miss Universe Muses

It wouldn’t be a fashion show if there weren’t models, and Michael Leyva truly made it the fashion event of the year by having the 2021 Miss Universe queens walk the show in his bridal pieces. Miss Universe Philippines 2021 Beatrice Gomez donned an all-lace long sleeved dress that featured a long cape, and Miss Universe Philippines Charity Victoria Vincent walked in an embellished serpentine gown that had oversized off-shoulder sleeves.

Also in attendance were Miss Universe Philippines 2021 1st runner-up Maureen Wroblewitz wearing a white sheer gown, and Miss Universe Philippines 2021 2nd runner-up Steffi Aberasturi donning a nude gown with white lace details, and a massive bow at the back. Miss Universe Philippines candidate Leren Bautista also made an appearance as one of Michael Leyva’s runway models.

Debutantes

While it was a bridal show, fashion designer Michael Leyva went ahead and designed gowns for another important moment in a woman’s life—her debut. Opening the show is young star Francine Diaz, who wore a lavender ball gown that featured a floral design and long flowy off shoulder sleeves. Her co-actress Andrea Brillantes, on the other hand, was the one who closed the show. Andrea donned a stunning red ball gown embellished with sequins, and a matching red veil.
