It was indeed a regal Spanish wedding for tennis ace, Rafael Nadal when he tied the knot with his girlfriend of 14 years, Mery Perrelló.

Within the romantic and historic walls of Pollenca, Mallorca, Mery Perrelló exchanged vows with world champion, Rafael Nadal. Just as any anticipated day of matrimony, all eyes were peeled for the bride’s wedding gown. Who would she wear? What would it look like? Will it be just as they envisioned it? Making their big day even more special than it already was, Perrelló entrusted internationally acclaimed Spanish bridal wear designer Rosa Clará to design not one, but two of her dresses for the nuptials.

I feel very fortunate to have met Mery, and to have designed the wedding dress she had always dreamt of,” shares Rosa Clará. “Being part of this moment is thrilling and a little scary—the responsibility that comes with a wedding like this that receives so much international attention is enormous.”

In an elegant and sophisticated Rosa Clará haute couture design, the unparalleled visionary, crafted a very intricate and lavish number with a fitted bodice, bejeweled neckline, and dainty long sleeves. Made from beautiful Art Deco-inspired French lace, the meticulously hand-embroidered fabric boasted of delicate patterning, flower motifs, and intricate micro-beading.

Flowing out downwards, a ballgown-style skirt was introduced, which was made of silk crepe that features a weightless detachable train. To complete the bridal look, Mery wore a wonderfully subtle silk tulle veil, all handcrafted  at the Rosa Clará atelier. Making the coming together a truly memorable family affair, Rafa’s mother, Ana Maria Parera, Mery’s mother, Maria Pascual, and Rafa’s sister, Maribel Nadal also wore standout designs from the Rosa Clará Cocktail Collection. “The connection with Mery was immediate, as it was with her mother and Rafa’s mother and sister. They’re an extraordinary family and it has been a pleasure to work with them,” shares Rosa Clará.

When the wedding designer opened her first boutique in Barcelona, Rosa wanted to bring a breath of fresh air to traditional bridal styling for a new generation of women who opt for more individuality and contemporaneity on their big day, Mery Perrelló included. And just like her lifelong love for Rafael Nadal, it was a perfect match.

As the ceremony drew to a close, the bride changed into another Rosa Clará creation. Coincidentally, when Mery visited her a couple of times in Barcelona, Rosa Clará already envisioned two bespoke gowns for Mery Perrelló.

In her almost 25 years in making the dreams of brides come true on their most special day, Rosa Clará has created the gowns for internationally famous brides, among them Antonela Messi, Marie Ducruet, Paula Echevarría and Paulina Rubio. Without showing any signs of stopping, there are only more dates filled up in the calendar for her to help these ladies live out their fantasies on their wedding day.
