All hail the Queen in the North!
Over the last eight seasons, we’ve witnessed a lot of changes. And one of the casts who really had a great character arc is Sansa Stark (played by Sophie Turner). Starting way back from the first season, she has been through most everything in Westeros. From getting married twice to witnessing her father beheaded right in front of her, she handled it with grace like a true queen. So as she has finally secured her rightful throne, we look back at the most memorable looks of Sansa Stark on Game of Thrones.

Time of Mourning
Ever since Sansa knew she would be traveling to King’s Landing and live there (thanks to Ned Stark who became the Hand of the King), she started dressing like a Southerner. But when the things start to get dire for her and the Starks, her fashion starts to reflects her desire to hide.
She started donning loose-fitting clothes and billowing sleeves. In fact, when she was mourning for her father’s death, she didn’t wear black. She opted to do the opposite in a pink rose gown. It’s the first sign she knew that it’s imperative to hide her true feelings so as to survive under Joffrey’s rule.
The Wedding of Tyrion and Sansa
At the grim affair in the Great Sept of Baelor, Sansa ties the knot with Tyrion Lannister. She wore an exquisite gold gown trimmed with lions. And as the ceremony also features cloaking Sansa with a red cape, it impeccably symbolizes the Lannister house. Hence, it only seems like the family has successfully delivered their message: you are now our property.
The Purple Wedding
Following the wedding of Sansa and Tyrion, another wedding took place: the wedding of King Joffrey and Margaery Tyrell. At the Purple Wedding (which was named after the color Joffrey turned after being poisoned), Sansa wore a stunning purple dress accentuated by a necklace with precious stones.
The Darker Days
When Lord Baelish brought Sansa with him to the Eyrie, he needed to disguise her as his niece. That’s why her hair color changed, and even her style. The palette of her clothes became darker than ever. This led her to have one of her most iconic looks: Black Crow dress. It has feathers on the bodice that extend to wing-like protrusions from her shoulders.
Sansa Marries Ramsay Bolton
On the night of another forced marriage (for the second time), she wore an astonishing white gown punctuated by a white fur—signifying her Northern roots. But more than this, the fact that she wore a white gown also symbolizes the end of Sansa’s true innocence. Later that evening, she was raped by Ramsay Bolton, her new husband.
The Aftermath
After the Battle of the Bastards, the Starks have regained Winterfell from Ramsay Bolton. And as she has gone through so much already, she started to become protective of herself too. Enter the “Sansa Needle,” which is a chain that links a large bifurcated circle, then hangs at a point. It’s also a reference to her sister Arya’s sword, and a reference to Sansa’s sewing proficiency.
The Armor
As the story towards the Battle of Winterfell approaches, Sansa’s dark sense of style progresses as well. Her clothing became an armor-like made from black leather. She finished her look with her needle placed front and center, of course.
Reign of Independence
Finally, as the wars have ended when her brother Bran became the king of Westeros, Sansa chose that the North shall remain independent. In her coronation, The Queen in the North paid tribute to her own heritage.
