The art of cosplay is alive in the Philippines. Meet five local cosplayers who are elevating the comic, movie, and gaming industry

Believe it or not, cosplaying has been around for over a hundred years. The earliest dated cosplay was in 1884 when Americans and the British would hold costume parties and guests would dress up as their favorite literary characters, such as the Three Muskateers or Shakesperean characters. Nowadays, the world of cosplay has expanded to greater heights. There are conventions, talent agencies, and fan meets specifically made for everyone’s favorite cosplayers. For many, the art of cosplay has become more than a hobby. They’ve dedicated much of their lives to grow a following and create online content for them as their full time job.
