From Fendace to Gucci x Balenciaga—The Biggest Designer Collabs To Date

These luxury designer labels made headlines with their fashion collaborations. Here are some we can’t get over plus our picks from their historic collections.

Collaborations aren’t exactly new, but when two luxury brands decide to work together, it becomes a major fashion event. And really, can you blame us? As they say, two heads are better than one—and with two different visions coming together, every collaboration is a treat for all fashion enthusiasts.

From the historic Fendace of Fendi and Versace to the much-awaited Off-White x Air Jordan kicks, here are luxury fashion collaborations we can’t get over:

Gucci x Balenciaga

Earlier this year, Gucci celebrated its centenary with runway show “Aria.” A celebration fit for such a historic moment, the luxury fashion house treated fashion fans with a surprise—the “hacking” of Balenciaga. The collection featured dual-logo Gucci x Balenciaga coats and jackets, and jewel-encrusted pieces. Notable pieces from the collection include Balenciaga’s hourglass bag rendered with Gucci’s iconic double G logo, and Gucci’s Jackie bag rendered with Balenciaga.

Fendace

Just unveiled recently, Fendi and Versace truly made fashion history when they introduced Fendace. In swapping houses, Donatella Versace got to play with iconic Fendi silhouettes, and Kim Jones and Silvia Venturini Fendi took on Versace’s playful designs. The collection was everything—from shimmery fabrics and playful prints, to iconic silhouettes and logo-love. A first ever in fashion history, the runway was graced by iconic supermodels like Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, and Gigi Hadid, to name a few.

LV x Fornasetti

Louis Vuitton and Fornasetti are both storied houses, but that did not stop the two iconic labels on their collaboration. Nicolas Ghesquière was inspired by Fornasetti’s designs for Louis Vuitton’s Fall/Winter 2021, resulting in the LV x Fornasetti capsule collection. Presented during a virtual runway show, the collaboration showcased ready-to-wear pieces, shoes, and iconic Louis Vuitton bags redesigned with Fornasetti art.

Dior x Rimowa

Luxurious travel took another turn when Dior unveiled its collaboration with high-quality luggage company, Rimowa. The collaboration featured signature Rimowa models, such as the Cabin, Trunk, and Hand Case—all of which are rendered with the iconic Dior Oblique print. They also introduced the Personal Clutch, that is made with lightweight aluminum and designed with the “Dior” logo.

Off-White x Air Jordan

Known for its luxurious streetwear aesthetic, it’s not surprising that Off-White has decided to collaborate with the Jordan Brand. With Jordans being one of the most coveted kicks today, Virgil Abloh will be giving his own take on the Air Jordan 2. The Off-White collection will be available in two colorways, Black/Blue and White/Red. The pair is designed with zip-ties and Michael Jordan’s signature.
