When many of us heard that the country’s very own Kris Aquino would be a part of the Crazy Rich Asians cast, we couldn’t contain our excitement. Now that it is the day of their much-awaited movie premiere, fans and beauty enthusiasts are all eyes. Surely, the Queen of All Media would be making a showstopping beauty statement on the red carpet.
Clad in a bright yellow Michael Leyva gown, Kris Aquino’s hair was, in contrast, pulled back and ever-so-slightly disheveled. Was this done intentionally or not? We spoke to her hairstylist Pin Antonio to get the details.
“We intentionally went with a semi-messy bun,” Pin starts. “I decided to go with that look because she was wearing a very formal gown.”
Known for spearheading Salon de Manila in the Philippines, Pin, who is now based in the United States, adds that the simple look was meant to contrast her gown. “We all know that yellow is her color. I didn’t want her hair to get in the way by making it too much, so we stuck with this simple and flattering look,” Pin says.
On the other hand, Kris’ makeup look was one that she has perfected over the years: blooming. Since the star is known for her beautiful complexion, we’re sure that her go-to makeup artist RB Chanco didn’t have a hard time making her skin take center stage, complementing it with a pink lip.
