Can you imagine Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla, and Liza Soberano as Jose Rizal characters?

Well, Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) President Arsenio “Nick” Lizaso wants to make the dream into a reality as he’s setting his sights on casting the trio in a TV adaptation of “Noli Me Tangere.”

During a press conference for the CCP online series Kung Hindi Man, the CCP President shared that the upcoming planned series is aiming to cater to a younger demographic.

“I’m working on getting millennial actors so that our senior students can relate to the modern actors like Daniel Padilla, Kathryn Bernardo, and Liza Soberano,” he shared.

As of writing, the project is still in pre-production, but Lizaso has already outlined the possible roles for the actors. Do you remember these “Noli” characters?

Kathyrn – Salome

Lizaso plans to utilize the young actors in fairly small roles, with Kathyrn portraying Salome. In case you don’t remember, Salome serves as the paramour of Elise.

In chapter 25 of the novel, Salome and Elias get to talking about a picnic that Crisostomo Ibarra participated in.

Their story isn’t a happy one though, as Salome is set to move to Mindoro with her relatives and leave Elias behind.

Daniel – Elias

After breaking things off with Salome, Elias began to be Ibarra’s trusted companion throughout the novel. He ends up saving Ibarra on numerous occasions.

Though he comes from a wealthy family, he feels indebted to the main character.

Liza – Sisa

Here’s a character that likely needs no introduction. Sisa serves as the battered mother of twins Crispin and Basilio. Like most women during the time, she stays with her abusive partner.

At the end of the book, a lifetime of abuse leaves her in a place of insanity before her untimely death. In a twist of fate, Liza also portrayed the character of Alexandra Trese in the Netflix show of the same name, where she has two bodyguards named Crispin and Basilio.

What do you think of this proposed casting?
