Kaia Gerber Is Designing A Fashion Line With Karl Lagerfeld

By

Even before she officially debuted on the runway at New York Fashion Week, Kaia Gerber has been proving that she has a place in fashion, and not just when it comes to modeling. The 16-year-old has collaborated with sartorial visionaries like Marc Jacobs, who she helped design a special bag for (who could forget the adorable Snapshot bag?). Now after dominating the catwalk at major designer shows, Gerber is back with a prêt-à-porter collection in the pipeline.

Kaia for Marc Jacobs

For the new year, the model is collaborating with Karl Lagerfeld for a stylish range of clothing and accessories, even extending to shoes, sunglasses and jewelry. Karl Lagerfeld CEO Pier Paolo Righi confirmed to WWD that there’s a lot to be excited about, saying “We have been working intensely over the last months with Kaia in L.A. and at our studio in Paris. It was exciting to see her clear vision, passion and engagement, and the collection will definitely inspire many young women.”

The pieces are said to be a chic blend of Lagerfeld’s Parisian flair with Gerber’s West Coast style. French sophistication is said to influence the eveningwear, while the essence of the Californian cool girl look will inspire daywear.

There’s no extensive information on the upcoming assortment yet but you’ll have to wait until September to get your hands on the pieces. They will be launched through a series of events in three major cities namely LA, Paris, and New York this Fall, as well as online.

After exhibiting her artistic prowess with Marc Jacobs, it’s only fair to expect nothing but a great collection from Gerber’s end, especially being a Chanel favorite, and her mother, Cindy Crawford, being Lagerfeld’s muse in the 90s too. This collab is definitely something to look forward to.
