Jeremy Scott Steps Down as Moschino’s Creative Director

By

Just yesterday, Jeremy Scott announced his exit as Moschino’s Creative Director after 10 years

It seems as if the fashion industry is currently experiencing a turnover as current creative directors step down to allow new ideas to be executed by new designers. We’ve seen various trends like normcore and minimalism take place in recent shows, but we can’t deny the good run of camp and maximalism from the past few years.

One of the many names known from his sense of humor and flamboyant fashion is none other than Jeremy Scott, the Creative Director of Moschino for about 10 years. It was a challenging start of his career as the Italian fashion brand experienced a decline after the death of their founder back in 1994. But because of his unique eye for design, Jeremy Scott was able to revive the brand with a new DNA full of quirkiness that we first saw in his debut collection in 2013.

“I’ve had a blast creating designs that will forever live on. I am grateful for all the love and support I’ve received over the past decade.”

While fashion houses are grounded with their own codes, we have seen the impact of the artistry each creative director had in their respective brands. As for Moschino, a subtle tone of extravagance has always been in their designs, which Jeremy Scott made sure to amplify during his reign with his own unique style. Blown-up inflatables were attached to gowns, loud and vivid patterns were done in exaggerated silhouettes, and for his last collection, a hard edgy vibe took center stage.

“As I close this chapter, I am filled with excitement and anticipation, and I can’t wait to share with you all what I have in store for you next.”

When it comes to visualizing head-turning ensembles that Jeremy Scott has created for Moschino, one look we still can’t move on from was Heart Evangelista’s famous utensil-filled fit. She donned a sleek black coat that had gold cutleries stuck on the front panels, a black skirt that also had utensils dangling around her waist, and a mini bag that had a fork for the handle. To cap off her look, the actress had on a necklace with hanging utensils that matched the ones on her fit.

As the trends continue on with a more minimalist and timeless tone, it’s safe to assume that Moschino is heading for that direction as well. With their usual flamboyant style done in a muted manner, we’re definitely looking forward to how everything will unfold for the Italian fashion house in the near future.
