The Story Behind 5 Most Iconic Memes In Keeping Up With The Kardashians

By

While our favorite reality TV series is about to end, these iconic memes of the Keeping Up With The Kardashians will forever remain with us.

Whether you’d admit it or not, Keeping Up With The Kardashians will forever and always be this generation’s guilty pleasure. Regardless of people loathing the series and their family, nobody can deny its cultural impact, given that it’s one of the longest-running reality shows in television history.

After Kim Kardashian announced the end of their show on September 8 on Instagram, the world of social media was instantly flooded with sentiments by the family’s huge following. The star officially announced that her family had made “the difficult decision” to move on and that the show would air its final episodes in 2021.

“After what will be 14 years, 20 seasons, hundreds of episodes, and numerous spin-off shows, we are beyond grateful to all of you who’ve watched us for all of these years,” Kim captioned. “Without Keeping Up with The Kardashians, I wouldn’t be where I am today. This show made us who we are and I will be forever in debt to everyone who played a role in shaping our careers and changing our lives forever.”

And while we, as viewers, have changed the lives of the Kardashians, perhaps it’s also safe to say that they have changed our lives, too. From our sense of style, mannerisms, and even how we talk, our generation was definitely influenced by them.

But these aren’t the only things we picked up from the ever-famous family. As their shows were filled with the sisters and their momager‘s bicker and banter, the reality series also gave us the most iconic memes that will forever be classic—special thanks to their shookt botox-ed faces and withering comment with vocal fry.

So, to celebrate the cultural phenomenon of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, we compiled five of their best real-time memes and explain how it happened.

You’re Doing Amazing Sweetie

It was only in the fourth episode of the first season of Keeping Up With The Kardashians when the first-ever iconic meme of the show was realized. In this episode, Kim decided to do a nude photoshoot for the adult magazine, Playboy. But what was truly significant at that moment was when Kris Jenner solidified her title as the momager. As Kris escorted Kim to the shoot, she snapped a few photos on her nude daughter and said, “Kim, you’re doing amazing, sweetie.” And we just have to stan a very supportive and open-minded mom. I mean, we all gotta hustle and make money, right? Fun fact: Soon after this went viral, Kris Jenner attempted to trademark this catchphrase as her own.

Your Sister’s Going To Jail

One of the most memorable scenes in the show happened in season 3, episode 5. It was when Khloe was on her way to jail for violating her 3 years probation stemming from a 2007 DUI arrest. Now, while Kris Jenner was freaking out about Khloe’s lockup, Kim was just busy taking selfies in the car, not giving a single f*ck. Side note: If she suddenly got good lighting, then we could probably forgive her for seizing the opportunity.

There’s People That Are Dying

In season six, episode 12, Kim’s ex-husband, Kris Humphries, throws her in the ocean while on a family vacay in Bora Bora, which eventually led to losing her $75 thousand diamond earrings. After crying and complaining, her sister Kourtney goes out from her hut and says, “Kim, there’s people that are dying.” Sorry Kim, but we gotta give this to Kourt, because there are literally hundreds of kids dying of diarrhea.

Don’t Be F*cking Rude

One of the most iconic catfights we saw in the show would be in season two, episode seven where Kim and Khloe duke it out. Upon hearing Khloe dissing on Kim behind her back, the latter enters the room and immediately hits the former with her expensive designer handbag. She kept shouting, “Don’t be fucking rude! I swear to god, don’t be fucking rude…I’ll fucking hurt you. Don’t do that,” even if she was already hurting her. Now, we gotta admit that’s definitely very relatable with sibling fights.

If You Know What I Feel

We all know that Kim Kardashian has the worst ugly crying face amongst all the siblings. And while we’ve seen her countless times crying, there’s actually one legendary scene we’ll never forget. In the final episode of Kourtney and Kim Take New York, the latter cried to her sister and says, “If you know how I feel, why would you say that? Like you put me in such an uncomfortable situation like you know that I’m not happy, you know that I’m trying to see if it will work out here, and I know that it’s not.” Up to this day, almost all vloggers have already used this snippet as a meme. So that, folks, is how you leave a legacy in the world of memes.
