Rambo Nuñez Gets It Done

By

Even if he’s juggling several business ventures and passion projects, Rambo Nuñez’s drive to accomplish great things never weakens. How does he do it?

This is an excerpt from MEGA Man’s August 2022 cover story.

“I have a lot of natural energy, be it physical, mental, or emotional. It comes with youth, I guess,” Rambo quips. “I mean, I know I’m not that young anymore, but I like to believe I still have the same energy level as before.”

None of this energy goes to waste. “I’m deeply passionate about getting things done. Whether it’s a small project or a large-scale business, I approach my work as something that I have to accomplish well,” he notes. “And I really make it a point to balance everything, from work to leisure. That’s how I keep myself together.”

BALANCED EFFORT

Working hard runs in Rambo’s family. Over two decades ago, his mother Marilen Nuñez established her own events company, which would later become Forthinker, Inc., an experiential marketing, creatives, and public relations agency.

Rambo grew up seeing his mother build the company from the ground up, and eventually he joined to learn more about the different roles and responsibilities within the agency.

But perhaps his natural energy and drive to achieve pushed him to do more. “I didn’t want to be just under the payroll of my mother’s company,” the businessman admits. “So, a few years into the work, I set up my own creative company to support the events that she handled.”

True to his go-getter mindset, Rambo looked at his former creative agency as a way to accomplish even more work. “My own company allowed me to maximize the returns. I wasn’t just limited to the events of our family business, but I also had the capacity to take on other projects.”

It has only been uphill since then. Moving at pace with technology and trends within his chosen industries, Rambo established Pop Up Digital, which specializes in inf luencer marketing, social media, and community management. Alongside this is his collaboration with Mike Carandang, video production company Pop Up Studios—among his other ventures.

EFFICIENT STYLE

With several responsibilities to juggle, it makes sense for Rambo to prefer a more practical and laid-back style when it comes to dressing up.

“I’m a convenient dresser. I’m the type to have the basics—shirts, jeans, among others—in several quantities and different colors, with minimal prints,” he says. “I’m quite organized with how I style myself, and I make sure I have the right clothes for any occasion, be it personal or for work.”

But this isn’t to say that Rambo doesn’t have his occasional indulgences. While he has a good number of watches—which is in line with his work with Omega—Rambo also collects several sneakers and basketball shoes.

“I haven’t had time to organize them, but I must have over fifty-plus pairs,” he admits. “Most of them are on display, while I use some for the basketball leagues and games I play in. The others that I haven’t used as much, I have given away already.”

And while he doesn’t have a solid fashion icon or specific look that he follows, he takes cues from the late Virgil Abloh on mixing casual and comfortable outfits with touches of style. “I’m particular with how I feel about what I wear. I’m a big fan of Virgil, and I saw how he carried himself and the clothes that he wore, whether the ensemble was casual or formal. I pay attention to that.”
