Home Care Essentials Are Now Made More Sustainable

By

It’s no longer a choice between convenience and sustainability. As more people demand for eco-conscious products, brands are responding in kind.

Today’s consumers are more knowledgable about the effects of their lifestyle, especially with the products they consume. But anyone who has tried to make the shift to more ecologically-sound products knows it’s hard work: products aren’t as easily available, some don’t work as well as we need them to, and often they are also more expensive. The burden to bridge this gap now lies with the companies producing these home essentials. Unilever, the maker of many popular home care products, has a vision of transforming their brand and products “to become better for people and the planet, all powered by purpose and innovation.” They have partnered with Shopee and the Haribon Foundation for their “Linis Pilipinas” campaign, which aims to foster actions that will drive a cleaner future for the Philippines.

Unilever is proud to announce that popular home care brands such as Surf, Breeze, and Domex now feature bottles that are made with 100% recycled plastic, “taking away as much as 9 million
plastic bottles from landfills or waterways.” In their literature, they have also mentioned steps “toward improving and optimizing packaging have also been taken to prevent the use of excessive plastic, with education on collecting plastics and flexible packaging simultaneously being rolled out through over 400 barangay partnerships and social media content.”

The campaign has many facets, including a Super Brand Day Sale at Shopee from June 10 to 12. Portions from that sale will not only be donated to the Haribon Foundation, but Unilever will also be planting 1,250 trees in a bid to help with reforestation. Apart from the requisite discount vouchers, free eco-friendly products such as upcycled sponges, tote bags, bamboo toothbrushes, and silicone bowls will also be available to shoppers on the 3-day sale.

Of course, all of this is part of the longterm vision to create a more ecologically sound and sustainable future for Filipinos. As mentioned earlier, unlearning bad habits and gaining a better and deeper understanding of mindful living won’t happen overnight. One thing is for sure—the change will only happen once we all come together to work for this common goal. So long as we are taking the steps—little ones and big ones alike—we’ll get there.
