For the beginning of the season, H&M explores artful designs in collaboration with 2 pattern designers—creating a special collection with exclusive prints for girls and boys so they, too, can frolic in style.
For the girls collection, British artist Michelle Morin goes on the wild side with animal and floral prints in bold colors. With many years designing and maintaining gardens, Morin has narrowed her primary focus to nature as a subject to reference. She works to convey the beauty and complexities of nature using texture, pattern, and narrative elements throughout her work, which range from elaborate watercolor and gouache compositions on paper to vast and more layered paintings on canvas. Through her travels, she continues to seek out inspiration from the natural world while honing in on the unique details that define each place. The artist brought her penchant for foliage and sunny sensibilities with tees, dresses, light comfy trousers, and even shoes for the beach ready girl.
Taking a page from the essence of his new home, Australia, Swedish-hailing artist, Jonas Claesson fuses along his Scandinavian roots to bring colorful designs for H&M Kids’ boys range. In his whimsical hand drawn illustrations, moose, polar bears, reindeers, seals and surfers cohabitate in a wonderful world. With this fondness for all things bright, Jonas’s freewheeling and unconventional take on everyday sceneries has become his distinctive trademark and one he surely brought to the table for this fun collaboration. Expect resort-inspired jackets and trousers, denim shortalls, surf shorts, hoodies, and caps for boys prepped to hit the sand and sea.
