This year marks the fourth time Hermès has participated in the Watches & Wonders trade show which has gone digital to give media and retailers access to presentations held by the leading brands. Considered the biggest event in the watch industry, the physical exhibition held at the 19th-century performance art center in Geneva houses this year’s highlights for the fully digital show. One of these is the Polka Faubourg by Hermès, which marries watchmaking with Haute Joaillerie, presented as a science and art installation that reflects the French luxury house’s history with horology.

World Of Watchmaking

In collaboration with artists Clément Vieille and Pierre Pauze, graduates of the Le Fresnoy National Studio for Contemporary Arts and known for their avant-garde scientific paradigms, Hermès unveiled Texture of Time. With a “tensegrity” architectural concept combined with digital technology, it gives their audience a visual of how storytelling is the gear that moves each element in Hermès Horloger’s new creations.

Translucent structures create a monochrome-like city to flaunt each detail of their collection and to poetically retrace the genesis of their watchmaking. While the gleaming well of light reflects against the pairs of large, circular mirrors on the floor create an infinite cylinder for the main art sculpture created by Vieille. The line structure illustrates the lightness and tension found in the structures of the new watches. Pauze uses waves, water, and sand to produce images that pay homage to the natural elements that contribute to the otherworldly notion of Hermès Time.

Faubourg Polka by Hermès

Included in the collection is the latest Polka rendition, inspired by the miniaturized Faubourg model from 2014 that featured a mother-of-pearl dial and a dainty round-shaped case.

The timeless redesigned bracelet features a 15. 5 face, quartz movement, and a fun play in gem-setting using gold and diamonds to create interwoven dots and shapes that illuminate a sense of freedom for the wearer. As much as jewelry is an investment for every woman, this watch buys one timeless style. Available in five versions—white or rose gold, gem-set or entirely paved with diamonds.

Hermès is located at Greenbelt 3. For more updates check out hermes.com and follow @hermes on Instagram.
