Here’s What Happens When 2 Couturiers Join Forces In A Fashion Show

Teaming up to do a festive fashion show for the holidays, designers Debbie Co and Anthony Ramirez prove that two is better than one.

As the holidays are fast approaching, we’re all probably on the lookout of snagging the best dress to don during our countless Christmas events. And out of all these extravaganzas happening in our social timeline, there’s one very important gathering we must attend—either the annual Christmas eve gala or a big family reunion in a snazzy hotel. So, with that in mind, Sofitel Manila took matters in their hands, mounting a spectacular runway show featuring two of the country’s famous couturiers: Debbie Co and Anthony Ramirez.

Celebrating the festive season the French way, Sofitel’s “Art de Noël” opened on a glamorous note with an angelic musical presentation. It was then followed by the lighting of the iconic 30-ft Christmas tree decked with lavish decors of gold, white, and silver styled by Jo Claravall.

Continuing the mirthful momentum of the crowd, Debbie Co’s couture show started, which magically transported us to the City of Lights. As lovely French music played and the lights astonished, her first look immediately emerged: an exquisite champagne ruffled tube dress in an A-line silhouette.

Debbie Co’s couture collection impeccably evoked her signature aesthetic, magnificent in its feminine, classic elegant touch in every piece of her 11-piece collection. And as it was primarily inspired by the art exhibit at Atelier de Lumieres in Paris, she translated the interplay of light and shade from each painting through designs.

That’s why it’s pretty evident in her collection that she incorporated ruffles, floral appliques, pleats, and ostrich feathers. But the highlight of her show was none other than her muse, Tessa Prieto-Valdes who closed Debbie Co’s show in a stunning snow-queen inspired ball gown reflecting the epitome of classic sophistication.

After Debbie Co’s successful show, Anthony Ramirez seamlessly shifted the atmosphere into a sensual one with his signature creations that are sexy, dynamic, with a flair for the dramatic—characterized by his impeccable technique in cut-outs and masterful draping, of course.

For his latest collection, he captured the youthfulness of every woman as they transition from teen to a woman in her prime. Hence, he infused delicate femininity into intricately-tailored gowns. He also put the spotlight on bustier tops that gave that hint of modern elegance in his jeweled toned creations. Now, that’s how you perfectly balance a sultry aesthetic and sophisticated design.
