RUFFLES
What reigned faultlessly in the grandeur of Manila Fashion Festival was the thriving of experimentalism. Meticulous ruffled details dominated the runway in the most unexpected way, with each version remarkable on their own. Gunning a dark romantic edge, Dak Bonite sent couture-inspired designs down the catwalk in tulle juxtaposed with veils, waist belts, and aptly medieval corsetry. Armed with their original streetwear sensibilities, Naoki brought out fine detailing with mini and tiered dresses and statement tops for the 2nd iteration of Kitsune. Diving headfirst with a clean, minimalist approach, Daryl Maat delivered the essence of a whimsical garden party with all-white separates accessorized with raffia visors.

Transparency was the name of the game in Jinggay Serag’s runway offerings as he stuck to a monochromatic ground with sensuous black sheer pieces paired with sleek vests and workwear-ready trousers just as how Dak Bonite traipsed towards a classic love affair with sheer dresses in cranberry and deep amethyst. Harvic Dominguez adhered to his traditional stylings punched up with layered couture dresses while Chris Diaz and Daryl Maat went for easy chic with bottoms in fine fabrics that crossed the border of resort and athleisure.
SHINE
Absolutely apt for the summer, chic bling ruled several presentations at #MNLFashionFest. Yong Davalos attacked in full force with sparkly gowns, mini dresses, and separates perfect for a grand party or a small soiree. Stepping into neutral ground, Harvic Dominguez made a case for sleekness with silver vests that would make for an incredible statement piece. Conclusively, Chris Diaz’s striped sequin creations reminded us of the pelagic Gaultier-esque Breton top attached with his own unique flair. Pops of yellow and micro accessories supported the cohesive assemblage as well as redefinition of craftiness with quirky embellishments.
