Here’s An Exclusive Interview Of Fil-Am Sprinter Kristina Knott Before Her Olympic Game

By

Olympic-bound sprinter Kristina Knott believes that life is not a race, but a marathon.

You have probably read this somewhere, but life is often compared to a marathon, and one must run it with endurance to finish it, and in order to do that you have to enlarge your capacity as a runner by training, and preparing hard for it. That’s what Filipina-American sprinter, Kristina Knott believes in. Even if she runs to get ahead in the game, and win first place, her view outside the sport is different.

For her, life is not a sprint, but a marathon. However, this doesn’t change the fact that she’s really fast, since the start of Tokyo Olympics, more and more people are familiarizing themselves with all our Filipino athletes who will compete, including Ms. Knott.

Record-breaker

Knott is not a newcomer on representing the Philippines as she made her international debut for the Philippines at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta , Indonesia, where she became the only Southeast Asian who qualified for the final of the 200 meters event, finishing sixth.

She also represented the country in 2019 Southeast Asian Games, where she set a new Philippine national record at the 200-meter event by finishing the race at 23.07 seconds, and breaking her own record in the finals when she finished at 23.01 seconds, gaining her the women’s 200 meters event gold medal.

A veteran in the works when it comes to breaking records, Knott did it again at the Drake Blue Oval Showcase in Des Moines, Iowa back in 2020 when she broke the 33-year Philippine national record for the women’s 100 meter dash set by Lydia de Vega at the 1987 Southeast Asian Games by clocking 11.27 seconds, surpassing Lydia’s by .01 seconds.

Beyond all the record-breaking moments that Knott showcased in many of her games, is a woman who loves her family, her heritage, and herself. In her exclusive interview, the former basketball varsity player, shares how she got into track and field, and what she likes the most in her chosen sport.
