Here Are The Designers We Loved At Style Fest PH 2019

By

As Style Fest Ph 2019 has finally ended, we now roundup all the featured designers at the annual fashionable fete.

While Style Fest PH is still considered to be relatively new, it sure is making waves in the local fashion scene. Celebrating its second year, the annual three-day runway show featured notable designers that are helping local community weavers showcase their artisanal crafts, elevating the local streetwear scene to a whole new level, and last but definitely not the least, making the Filipiniana known on a global scale. Here are all the designers we loved at this year’s Style Fest PH.

Piopio

Kick-starting Style Fest in the best celebratory way possible, Piopio easily caught the attention of the crowd by doing a runway presentation a la Miss Universe. Since the collection was primarily inspired by the 15 provinces of the Philippines, all the  models wore sashes referring to which partner community that looks represented.

Chris Nick

One will easily know when you’re at a Chris Nick show, and that’s when you’re instantly transported to the ever-lovely French locale. And this time, the young designer gave us a glimpse of his very own ultimate summer fantasy. As he transported us to the 50s at Côte d’Azur, he highlighted his sultry, edgy, and wearable take on Filipiniana dressing.

Jor-el Espino

Reimagining our traditional costumes at this year’s Style Fest is none other than Jor-el Espino. With an aim to make Filipiniana dressing more accessible and wearable at this day and age, he created what he calls the “Bombarong.” It is a combination of a bomber jacket and barong where you can definitely don wherever you may be.

Mark Bumgarner

One of the many Filipinos making waves in the international fashion scene is Mark Bumgarner. As he has been doing shows abroad, he says that his take on modern Filipiniana is definitely catching a lot of attention from his international clients. So, perhaps to continue this great momentum he drew inspiration from the veracious beauty of Maria Clara, and eventually astonished everyone with his feminine and elegant definition of a true Filipina.

Boom Sason

Picking-up from the first day’s successful fashionable festivities, Boom Sason finally did her first-ever runway show. Famed for her “sexy, powerful, and hot” bikini outfits, Boom made sure to put the entire collection’s focus on just that. And with an eye-catching architectural stage as the main background of her runway, she painted her show with bold colors, neons, metallics, and animal prints.

Bang Pineda

Capping-off the annual fashion fest with no less than a bang is no other than industry’s celebrated fashion rule-breaker, Bang Pineda. Known for his avante-garde creations and denim looks, he kept his design aesthetic still intact. A stylist who has worked with an assembly of stars over the years, his show started with Jake Cuenca to Vice Ganda closing his show. In terms of fashion, everyone was treated with showstopping ensembles—from voluminous tulle skirts, denim on denim pieces, to bright neon colors.
