The Miss World Organization has a principle that each queen should uphold—Beauty with a Purpose. Indeed, what is a title worth if not to promote a better change in society?

For Gwendolyne Fourniol, she finds her purpose as an advocate of education and takes the crown in this year’s Miss World Philippines 2022.

In response to the question, “How do we cope with an education deficit accumulated due to the pandemic?”, she answered, “As an advocate of education, I do agree that during the pandemic, we have suffered the most, but the children who have lacked access to education have suffered the greatest. Working hand in hand with ERDA Foundation to empower the marginalized Filipinos, I believe by uniting benefactors and encouraging our children, and allowing them to go back to school, especially during this pandemic, will make this world a better place because education is the greatest weapon against poverty.” (quoted from Rappler)

The 21-year-old shares in her Beauty with a Purpose video that the Educational Research and Development Assistance (ERDA) Foundation, Inc. helped in shaping the life of her mother, a beneficiary of the said organization. Because of ERDA, Gwen’s mother was able to pursue a degree in psychology.

Gwendolyne takes pride in being exposed to both Filipino and French cultures, as well as in her fluency to Tagalog, English, and French.

Other queens were also crowned last night, namely, Alison Black (Las Piñas) for Miss Supranational Philippines; Ashley Subijano Montenegro (Makati) for Miss Eco International Philippines; Ingrid Santamaria (Parañaque) for Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas; Beatriz Mclelland (Aklan) for Miss Eco Teen International Philippines, Justine Beatrice Felizarta (Marikina) for Miss World Philippines Tourism; and Cassandra Bermeo Chan (San Juan) for Miss World Philippines Charity.

Congratulations to our new queens!
