BTS is taking the world by storm: a Rolling Stone cover, a new hit song called Butter, and a collaboration with fast food giant McDonald’s greeted us all in a month. In a series of playful teasers on Instagram, McDonald’s has hinted at the components of the BTS Meal along with each of the members. Consisting of the band’s favorite McDonald’s order, the BTS Meal includes a 10-piece box of Chicken McNuggets®, medium World Famous Fries®, medium Coca-Cola, and the new Sweet Chili and Cajun dipping sauces inspired by popular recipes from McDonald’s South Korea. The much-awaited BTS Meal will be available in the Philippines starting June 18, 2021.
Ahead of the launch of the BTS Meal in the Philippines, McDonald’s announced the release of the exclusive and limited edition BTS x McDonald’s collab merch. Last May 27, items from the exciting collection became available only through the Weverse Shop app.
What’s in the collection
Inspired by some of the craveable, hand-picked menu items from the BTS Meal, the BTS x McDonald’s merch consists of shirts; hoodies; a sweatshirt; a cap; a mini bag; tote bags; socks; an LP pouch; a beach towel; flip flops; a silicone pouch; an Airpods Pro case; a Buds case; a laptop pouch; a keyring; a sticker set; a set of masking tape; an umbrella; a set of pens; and a purple robe. Each item has a distinct BTS touch to it. The designs are perfect representations of the partnership, through McDonald’s classic fry box logo featuring seven fries for each BTS member, as well as the playful marriage of BTS’s iconic purple hue with the signature red and gold of McDonald’s.
It’s a well-known fact that BTS adores their ARMY. So much so that they spelled out “ARMY” in their latest music video for Butter. The boys will do anything for their fans, so when ARMY requested to have photocards included in their collaboration with McDonald’s, they made this wish happen. Every BTS x McDonald’s merch order on the Weverse Shop app will come with one of eight photocards until supplies last; the eight photocards consist of an individual photo of each of the seven members, and a group photo.
How to order
Excited fans flocked the Weverse Shop as soon as the limited edition merch launched— wiping out stocks of some of the items within the first 24 hours. Luckily, BTS and McDonald’s restocked, so now’s your chance to get your hands on the exclusive merch! Just download the Weverse Shop app on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. (Take note: the Weverse Shop app is different from the Weverse app!) Once you’ve downloaded the app, set up an account, select “BTS” from the list of artists, choose your market, click “Shop” and go to the “McDonald’s” tab.
