Set 10 years before the wedding, we are transported back to the childhood of the four sisters and their brother that’s full of drama and laughter.
Let’s all admit it—Four Sisters and A Wedding is an iconic Filipino pop-culture movie. And in case you haven’t seen it before, which we highly doubt, you can already stream it on Netflix. The story revolves around how four protective sisters unite to stop their young brother’s pending wedding upon meeting his fiance’s demanding family, which eventually reveals long-simmering family issues.
As some issues were blurted out by major characters, especially Bobby (originally played by Bea Alonzo), we have a couple of what ifs after finishing the entire film. So, as Star Cinema thought of producing a prequel of this iconic movie titled, Four Sisters Before The Wedding, maybe this is the perfect time to raise our unanswered questions that have been lingering in our minds all these years.
The comedy-drama film has begun production in October 2020. Alexa Ilacad will portray Bobbie, Gillian Vicencio as Alex, Charlie Dizon as the eldest sister Teddie, and Belle Mariano will be Gabbie. In fact, the official poster was just released recently wherein the young protagonists recreated the original pose of Four Sisters and A Wedding.
But now that we’re transported back to their nostalgic childhood, we finally wanna see the scenarios that the young Bobby noticed claiming that their parents have their favorites. As for her, she was nobody’s favorite except her youngest sister, Alex (originally played by Angel Locsin).
The Medal Of Honor
Remember when Bobby became their batch valedictorian and brought home tons of medals? Unfortunately, even with that great feat, their Mama (played by Connie Reyes), overlooked her and praised Teddie instead. So, this begs us to ask how many medals did she receive during her graduation and how did she deal with that affliction.
Not A Happy Meal
Another scenario we’re looking forward to is when Bobby came home really famished and ate the meal that their mother initially prepped for Teddie. In doing so, the former was scolded by Connie Reyes as she said the leftovers weren’t hers.
Pants Not Bags
Last, but definitely not least, was the pants. Yes, folks, we all thought their mom brought home an array of bags from Divisoria. But upon rewatching the film with the official English subtitle uploaded by ABS-CBN Star Cinema on Youtube, it actually says pants—not bags. So, finally, if the production also includes this scene, we’ll finally know what were the pants that they had the choose from to the extent that Bobby vividly remembered that day. Was it Calvin Klein jeans? There’s no way to know for now.
In the long run, while we still don’t have the answers for these lingering questions of ours, we’re only hoping that the prequel of this iconic movie won’t disappoint us. Just like how Director Cathy Garcia Molina wonderfully combined the genres of drama and comedy, we look forward to seeing how young director Mae Cruz Alviar would ace this one too.
