New Year’s resolutions may sound corny to some, but if you think about it, it’s a welcoming opportunity to reflect on the past year—both achievements and failures. As we are always learning to better ourselves and how we interact with others, this allows us to think of ways to continue to make efforts that will lead us to a desired path. Whether you’ve set your resolutions at the start of the year or waiting for the Lunar New Year, or heck, already recalibrating your new year, new me pronouncements, we are cheering you on. Meanwhile, we caught up with some of our favorite Filipino drag artists, and here’s what they had to say.
Matilduh
My new year’s resolution is to stay focused on my craft and to fall in love with it deeper. I also want to discover more of my identity as a drag performer. My goal this year is to have more shows and projects in order to sustain my passion.

To take care of my health – physical and mental. And my goal is still to perform abroad.

New Year’s resolution ko is to spend more time with myself and my loved ones. Share whatever success I accomplish in any way, shape, or form, and prioritize my physical and mental health more.
Lady Morgana
2022 was a fruitful and blessed year for me. Being introduced by Drag Race Philippines season one has been a roller coaster journey for me. I am so grateful for it. Marami akong firsts: first representative of Visayas, Mindanao, first lip sync assassin, first hindi na sashay away ni Mama Pao sa main stage, and first miss congeniality. So thankful and forever grateful. For this year, more blessings, gigs, and further introducing Lady Morgana on mainstream like movies, TV hosting, touring around the world, and most of all, good health and more wisdom. I will share my experience with the aspiring provincial queens in the drag community.

I have a few resolutions, actually, a little bit general in life, but also apply with drag: embrace the cringe, take up space, and do my best not to buy new clothes (just thrifted or gifted). Pero syempre, dapat new underwear!

I want to push myself and my art. I get so bored so easily, so I always have to reinvent, recreate, rejuvenate, and all. I also want to focus more on honing my talent for future endeavors.
