The end of the year is truly full of festivities, and Vice Ganda just knows how to throw the most remarkable party. Marking the beginning of celebrations this season, the comedian’s UnkabogaBALL was held last December 10.

Members of the LGBTQ+ community, clad in their Philippine history-themed numbers, gathered in Cebu to celebrate. Besides the UnkabogaBALL being an event to laude the contributions of the attendees in their respective fields, it was also an opportunity to showcase the creativity of Filipino designers.

With that said, here are the designers featured by the attendees of the UnkabogaBALL event.

Cary Santiago

Vice made a dramatic entrance wearing a Cary Santiago creation, embodying the mythical bird of Mindanao—the Sarimanok. From the malong’s details to the marks mimicking the tattoos of our warrior ancestors, the unkabogable superstar nailed his party’s theme to the dot.

Jaggy Glarino

For a quick second outfit change, Vice wore a multi-tiered tulle Maison Glarino gown. The “Rosal” piece had a mermaid silhouette with dramatic sleeves.

Neric Beltran

Drag Race Philippines queen Marina Summers donned a number that was the talk of the netizens for its literal back story. Perfectly channeling Marina’s famous cinched waist, the designer did some draping on the bottom part of the gown. The drama behind was definitely a bloody statement no one should forget!

Mara Chua

The designer created a Rafflesia-inspired ensemble for her friend, Rod Singh, the director of Drag Den. A collaboration between two creatives who wanted to enlighten others with abuse of power, as well as hope in these trying times, did you know that the gown was actually a repurposed piece? Truly a nature-friendly design!

Job Dacon

Job has already been a household name in the drag community because of his sheer talent. Together with Eva Le Queen’s ever-purposeful looks, the two managed to highlight the power of drag as a political avenue. For her look that night, Eva took inspiration from Kim Kardashian’s blackout Met Gala look and donned a black Filipiniana number with butterfly sleeves and waist corset. Her bedazzled headpiece was also a reiteration of ABS-CBN’s logo.

Roman Sebastian

Awra slayed at the ball as one of the country’s known figures, Princess Urduja. The warrior princess look was courtesy of Roman Sebastian who incorporated the different patterns of Philippine art to the details of the ensemble. The pearl hemming of the train and the golden fringe of the top added a nice feminine touch to Awra’s powerful outfit.

Meanwhile, Drag Den‘s Drag Runner Sassa Gurl gave a reinterpretation of the first transgender figure in our country. The Babaylan was a prominent prehistorical figure who was responsible for the barangay’s several affairs, which included healing. Roman incorporated the rich history in the patterns and fringes of the outfit. The gloves even have their own accent sleeves!
