A global pandemic does not mean one must sacrifice style in the pursuit of protection. It is well believed by many that both can be achieved through proper research and a love for fashion. This exact mindset is the instigator for the Avel x Discover Resorts collaboration. According to Erwin Lopez, Hotel Manager of Discovery Shores Boracay, “We didn’t want anything off the rack. We wanted something bespoke for Discovery Resorts, something that will perfectly suit our colleagues’ needs.” So, that’s exactly what Discover Resorts did. They tapped the world-renowned designer and longtime friend of the company, Avel Bacudio, in the creation of the group’s protective gear.
After months of preparation, Avel and Discovery Resorts were able to create magnificent pieces that are not functional as protective wear, but also stylish in true Avel fashion. These pieces are part of the Discovery Resorts Home Safe Program to ensure the safety of their guests during the on-going pandemic.

The Avel x Discovery Resorts Face Mask
This specialized face mask is made out of a combination of cotton spandex and polyester. The materials used for the mask have proven to be effective barriers from tiny droplets and aerosols. A team of researchers in the US made these claims as part of the collaboration’s R&D process.
The Avel x Discovery Resorts Apron
Working during a pandemic requires more than just a face mask. That is why the two partners created the Avel x Discovery Resorts Apron for the staff of Discovery Resorts. This apron is made out of anti-static microfiber and polyester.
Now that the world has started to adjust to the new normal, the hotel and restaurant industry are sure to bounce back stronger than ever. Although many of us are eager to return to the beach, there are still some precautionary measures that have to be placed to prevent the spread of the virus without affecting the livelihoods of many.
